Missy Thomas Baxter expressed a love for beauty, order and creativity from an early age. This passion naturally piqued an interest in design and architecture. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in interior design and a minor in Architecture from Texas Tech University, Missy moved to The Woodlands, Texas. Pursuing a career in design, she worked in Houston, Texas with an award winning residential design firm. There she gained invaluable experience as Senior Designer for over 9 years, managing countless projects across the country as well as in Houston.
Missy’s Transitional design aesthetic integrates timeless antiques, classic details, sophisticated palettes, textural interest and clean lines. She loves juxtaposition and has a strong respect for architectural details; this combination allows her to create attractive spaces by layering key design elements with unexpected details. Missy finds inspiration all around her, keeping her designs refreshing, current and original with each new project. Her interiors are attractive and inviting without forfeiting the function and comfort that make a house a “home”.
Baxter Design was created in 2010 with a focus on exceptional design, in order to bring client’s visions to light. Missy has been a professional member of NCIDQ since 2007 and is a registered Interior Designer with Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
Philosophy:
“I believe that every project should be a reflection of my client’s unique personality. By creating beautiful spaces that not only reflect their tastes but also work functionally with their individual lifestyles. I feel that timeless design can bridge the gap from past to present by skillfully combining architectural details, antique furnishings and contemporary elements. The layering of design elements creates a warm and inviting space that clients will cherish for years to come.”
